ERP = Enterprise Planning Resource
Tracks aspects of the business such as financials (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger), inventory, distribution, manufacturing, payroll, and HR.
Example – Microsoft Dynamics ERP – GP, SL, AX, NAV
CRM = Customer Relationship Management
Tracks contact/account information and manages sales pipeline and inventory, marketing campaigns and results and customer service histories, trends and results.
Example – Microsoft Dynamics CRM
They will complement each other with the CRM helping to drive sales/orders/client management/customer service while the ERP solution will help manage the accounting, production, billing/collection aspect of the company. Together, they give the company a complete picture of the daily progress.
